Sam Balani

My name is Sam Balani and I’m an underwater photographer/videographer and scuba diving instructor, from the caribbean island of Curacao. The ocean has always been my biggest life inspiration and I’ve had a fascination for the shades of blue that it reflects ever since i was a young boy. Blue has always been my favorite color. Strangely, when I was a kid, I used to be afraid of the wildlife, and now I am completely in love with them and I feel like I am part of this ecosystem. The ocean is my life, and I don’t see myself living it any other way.

When I first started diving, I used to shoot with a gopro hero 3 and it was only in the last couple of years that I was able to upgrade to a more professional underwater rig to produce the images you see here. The ocean is a pure form of art, and I am just a spectator trying to capture its beauty one image at a time.
